Dance Workshop - Exploring the Tribal Dance of Sarawak

My school's dance club having dance workshop yesterday and today. The slogan up there, hehe..not the slogan of the workshop la, something i copied somewhere else. Hehehehehe...It was very interesting and precious experience, attending this workshop. The coach is from Kuching's Cultural Village, Mr Mohamad something..I dont know la..He is also our judge for yesterday's competition OOO!!!

First we learn zapin...My first Malay dance...
Haha..so funny, we have to hold sarong at hand one the whole time or else it will drop down and then...
"Zapin merupakan tarian Melayu yang berasaskan kesenian Arab–Parsi yang telah disesuaikan dengan kesenian Melayu. Zapin bermaksud “gerak kaki” daripada perkataan ‘al–Zafn’. Tarian Zapin bercorak persembahan atau pertunjukkan. Gerak tarinya berasaskan langkah kaki penarinya. Banyak tarian Melayu ciptaan baru mengambil rentak zapin sebagai irama tarian."

Yikes...whatever, i didnt even read that myself.

Next, BIDAYUH!!! We learnt that in 1 hour. Easy la, like washing plates and throwing it only..Hahaa....

Bidayuh dance...

Then, my favourite, MELANAU!! OMG, this is the best ethnic dance i ever had before. It was so coooollllll!!!!! It was like the hornbill flying. Then the boys are holding this long bamboo stick and playing with it. They have to make it like..this...

"Step, back, step, back, step step step step, turn..." slogan while doing the jumping bamboo thing..

Then, i have to sit on the middle of the 4 bamboo and then the boys will lift me up. OMG..this is so scary. The boys aren't much bigger than me le, but since i am the lightest among the girls..But it was kinda fun, having a free ride..HEHE, this is what you never get in fun fairs. MUAhahaahHAH!!

After the practice ends, we start playing with the bamboos..Playing the..the, i forgot what is this called...

While the boys playing this....omg...
